There is even a photo of my grandmother, Viola Hayes, with her family when she was young. I am curious as to why there are no photos of the Clinchfield Hospital. I was born there in 1959 and Dr. Cain delivered me, but Dr. Davis was my physician when I was a little girl. My grandfater, Noah Meade retired from Clinchfield Coal and worked at Moss #2 (I believe that is what is used to be called). I would love to hear from someone who remembers anything about the Hayes family. Thank you

If anyone can help, please send me an email. My grandpa was Homer Ramsey and his wife was Nancy. Homer was the son of Sam & Rebecca Ramsey. The house was located just before Hamlin. If you are headed from Dante to Hamlin on Rt 63, just before you get to the Hamlin turn off (left onto Rt 615), my grandpa's house sit on the right hand side of the road, past the railroad track, up against the hill. We had to actually walk down the rail road track and cross over to get to their house. I believe the house was torn down in the late 70's or 80's. Thank You!

My wife Linda and I had the good fortune of attending the Dante Lives On 2008 Reunion. We are so glad that we made the long journey from Coral Gables, Florida to the beautiful hills of southeast Virginia! Best of all we met many kind and wonderful people! Congratulations to everyone who organized such a fantastic event.
About nine months ago I discovered the Dante Lives On website while researching my family history. My grandmother, Marie Long Kries, was the eldest child of Lee and Lucy Long. I was aware that my great grandparents lived in Dante but until I acquired a copy of the DLO book I did not really know my great grandfather Long. I was a young child when he passed away so I have no personal memories. Reading the book, visting Dante, walking up Roanoke Hill, and talking to the folks who call Dante "home" have provided me with a real insight into who he was. Thanks to all who made it possible.
We hope to make it to future reunions and if we can't we'll be there in spirit! Best wishes.

My grandparents were Homer and Nancy (Edwards) Ramsey. I still have people there and in St. Paul and still love going "home" each chance I get. The site shows a lot of hard work and dedication on everyone's part and I think its terrific! Keep up the good work and I'm anxious to see any new additions! Best of wishes and warmest regards from Delaware!
